Henley Royal Regatta

RF and broadcast facilities for Henley Royal Regatta

The Henley Regatta, founded in 1839, is the best-known rowing regatta in the world and is one of the highlights of the summer sporting and social calendar in the UK. In 2015 it was broadcast for the first time since 1976.

Thousands of visitors attend to watch races of international standard, including Olympians and emerging stars from around the world. This year’s coverage was produced in high definition and streamed on the Henley Royal Regatta website and YouTube channel, and displayed on screens in the grandstands. Furthermore, Finals Day of the 2015 event was broadcast live on the BBC Red Button and the BBC Sport website.

Sunset + Vine|APP, a multi-award-winning UK independent TV sports production company and host broadcaster for the 2015 Regatta, awarded Timeline TV the contract to provide the broadcast and RF facilities for the Henley Royal Regatta.

Timeline provided a large portable production unit and ten RF cameras to deliver live coverage of the races along the River Thames. The production kit also facilitated graphics, commentary and replays from an eight-channel EVS. Additionally, the use of drone technology provided amazing live coverage of the event.

It was fantastic to be chosen by Sunset + Vine|APP to assist in taking the prestigious rowing event to a global audience for the first time since 1976. Timeline has also worked with Sunset + Vine|APP on the London Olympics 2012 and Volvo Ocean Race.

Sir Matthew Pinsent, broadcaster and four-times Olympic gold medallist in rowing, said at the time that it was the best coverage of rowing he had ever seen.

You can watch all of the videos from the 2015 Regatta on the Henley Royal Regatta YouTube channel.
